For the last decade, I have been collecting handwritten lists that I find discarded out in the world. I spot them in grocery carts and parking lots, sometimes between the pages of a book. There are store lists and recipes, Christmas wish-lists and song recommendations. Each one offers a glimpse into a stranger’s world - or at least questions about it: Are they prepping for a family dinner that night? Or making cookies for a loved one? What are they passionate about? Curious about? Want to be reminded about?
